First Meeting

July 11th was the first meeting of the new Rotary year.  President Mary reviewed the budget for the upcoming year.  Many of the organizations and programs that have been supported in the past will continue to receive financial support from us.  The focus on international dollars will be on Uganda to support the construction of a second home at the cost of $2,000.  If you would like to review the new budget, please contact Mary or Michael Claunch, Treasurer.

Glenwood Rotary will be the Waterama Pontoon Parade Grand Marshal and all Rotarians and guests are invited to gather on Lady Lakeside for the evening parade.  Please consider joining us to help fill the boat as we start off the parade!

Please contact Jeremy and Scott to let them know if you can help at the Waterama Road Race and/or Sunday Pancake Breakfast.  They have sent emails to all members and would greatly appreciate a response back as to when/where you can help.

A reminder that the ballroom is in use next Tuesday, July 18th so Rotary will meet in the small dining room.  Chef Salads will be on the menu for the day.  (Yes, there will be meat on the salad for those who are wondering!)  Please make a right hand turn when you come to Lakeside rather than heading left to the ballroom next week only!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 8th and join us for the Rotary picnic that evening.  Chicken and corn will be provided along with a pot-luck dish to share.  The evening will be capped off with a sunset cruise aboard Lady Lakeside.

The lobster/steak dinner will be held either August 26th or 27th.  The Kuhn’s are opening their lovely home to Rotarians once again for a great evening.  Merle Wagner and his committee are formulating plans and will let us know a definitive date in the near future.

Bentley Peters, one of our newest members, shared a little bit about himself with the club.  He is a retired organizational consultant who still does a small amount of consulting in his retirement.  His wife graduated from Glenwood High School back in 1967, and that is why they have retired back to the area and now live on Halwood Road.  We welcome Bentley to our club!

Thank you to all Rotarians who live by the motto of “Service Above Self”.

Rotarian of the Month: July
Rotarian of the Month is Bill Ogdahl!

In the next edition we will have a story from Mr. Ogdahl.

We have quite a few outstanding citizens among us, and of course, competition is pretty stiff! E-mail us for "Member of the Month" suggestions.
