HOPLIN-HITCHCOCK FUNERAL HOME

Dawn, a mortician from the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home, presented about the importance of funerals at the September 18th meeting.  Funerals are extremely helpful for grief-stricken family and friends; there is significant research that suggests spending time with the physical remains results in a healthier level of closure.  Currently, she said the average cost for a traditional funeral is $13,000.00; the average cost for a funeral with cremation is $8,000.00.  Approximately 55% of Glenwood residents choose cremation.

Dawn stressed the importance of writing down your wishes and giving them to the loved ones who would likely plan it.  Though many people don't like to make those plans early, she reminded us that "talking about it doesn't make it happen sooner!"

Annual Rose & Caramel Sale
START SELLING ROSES & CARAMELS!

The Annual Rose & Caramel Sale is our biggest fundraiser for our Club; we keep $12.00 from each sale and are able to invest that back into our community, as well as, international Rotary projects.  Our goal this year is to sell 800 dozen roses!  Each Rotary member is required to sell at least 10 dozen roses (new members are not required, but strongly encouraged to meet this number)

We will sell roses for $20.00 per dozen and caramels for a package of 24.  Orders will be due to Ron Cin by October 16th and deliveries will be made on October 25th.

Christmas Party 2018
Our Christmas Party will be on December 2nd in the Lakeside Ballroom!  The Social will begin at 5:30pm and dinner will begin at 6:30pm.  Kevin Klimek will once again be providing musical entertainment from 5:30pm-8:00pm.  We are bringing back the SILENT AUCTION; if you have an item or experience you would like to donate, please contact Marin or Jordan (see contact information below)!  We will also be "passing the hat" for the food shelf.

President Grant would like each Rotarian to bring a guest (beyond their spouse) this year; someone who could be a potential new member, a community partner, or anyone else.  Please start thinking about who you could bring on December 2nd!
